The Pregnancy Journal

When I was pregnant, I wrote a Pregnancy Journal because the resource I wanted to have simply wasn’t there.

I wanted something that would tell me what was happening each week, not only with my baby and my changing body, but also emotionally and psychologically. I wanted a place to capture the little moments, thoughts and feelings that can so easily be forgotten, and something that would help me pause and connect with the experience of becoming a mother.

I collaborated with an illustrator, who was also a young mum, and together we created a beautiful, thoughtfully designed journal that combines week-by-week information about your baby’s development and the changes happening in your body with psychological reflections, gentle prompts and space for your own memories.

The journal follows you throughout pregnancy, offering opportunities to reflect on your relationship with your changing body, your emotions, your connection with your baby, your relationships and the transition into motherhood. It also gently introduces practical preparation for birth and the fourth trimester.

I wrote it both as a clinical psychologist and as a pregnant woman going through this extraordinary experience myself. I wanted it to feel informative without being clinical, reflective without becoming another list of things you “should” be doing, and beautiful enough to become something you might want to keep long after your baby is born.

More than anything, I wanted to create the pregnancy journal I had been looking for myself — something that would help a woman not only record her pregnancy, but really experience it.
